ABSTRACT Tuesday ng umaga.

God Save the King 3

Read the first part: God Save the King

Read the second part: God Save the King 2

"Good morning bro!" I texted him first thing after waking.

I did my morning routine which included checking updates online and breakfast.

"Good morning too!" his reply after an hour. "I'll take a bath first."

I also took a bath after knowing he was awake.

God Save the King

I was on a tricycle. My eyes were lazy and one arm was hugging my stomach. I came from a meet-up scheduled days before. I was undecided then if I was to go straight to school for an exam three hours early or go back home, eat then take a nap.

The tricycle was about to turn right to our street when suddenly a boy riding a motorcycle to the opposite direction caught my glance. He turned his eyes at me too. The boy's hair seems fuzzy.

No Evil Grindr

Grindr 2.0 is out as promised. Actually, a month earlier than expected. There was major overhaul of the app UI. It feels intuitive on first try. Grindr is sloppy no more! It now allows you to crop a pic just before sending. Also, sent pics are saved for future use making the experience even faster. Pics are also with Grindr watermark when received.

The PDAF as Question of Policy

Pork barrel is, according to Merriam-Webster's dictionary:

"government projects or appropriations yielding rich patronage benefits"

A more technical definition removes the negative connotation and simply means legislative appropriations for specific districts or sectors. The PDAF is pork barrel.

Is patronage intrinsically evil? Is it corruption when a public official served people and those people voted for him afterwards? Is there not a leeway for public officials to make policy on which districts or sectors to prioritize?

On the Constitutionality of the Priority Development Assistance Fund

[Last updated on November 1, 2013. Added were the definition of 'discretion'; discussion on Article VI, Section 25 (2), and Article XI, Section 1 of the Constitution; and the Constitutional bases of the lawmaking power of Congress. On Privilege Speech, Plagiarism, and Copyright Infringement

[Updated July 22, 2013. Jurisprudence explaining plagiarism and jurisprudence on ideas being not protected by copyright were included. Stand on economic rights infringement was changed. The constitutional basis for Senate member punishment was also included.]

Disclaimer: I am not a member of the bar nor a law student. I have no malicious intent in writing this commentary. I do not wish to attribute a crime or otherwise to any person. I, for one, am against cyberbullying. This exercise is purely academic that we might learn from a specific example.

Last August 13, 2012, Senator Vicente Sotto III delivered his privilege speech, Turno en Contra (Part 1 of 4), against the then Reproductive Health Bill. The speech based on the Record of the Senate can be read here.

He was accused of plagiarizing several paragraphs discussing health risks by using oral contraceptives from the blog, The Healthy Home Economist, of a Sarah. The particular blog post, How “The Pill” Can Harm Your Future Child’s Health, (which was said to be the source) can be read here.

Plagiarism can be defined as: the appropriation of another's literary or artistic manner of expression.

Jeeponomics: Cost Analysis

My class finished earlier than usual. I love days like this because I can avoid the afternoon rush - no waiting for an hour to ride a jeep and no need to sabit (see picture below).

Tulisanes

PS. Apologies for being absent for nearly half a year and thank you for the more than thousand blog views.

Read the first part: Los MontaƱeses

"Did you came?" I asked C.

"No," he quipped.

"What will we do about that?"

"I'll finish it at home."

Los MontaƱeses

I opened Grindr. There was a new face. Closed-up. Sepia-toned. Kissable smile. Teeth shown with braces. Cute.

I said my usual salutations, "Do you have another face pic?"

I received a photo. Same cute kissable smile but this time non-sepia and non-close-up.

"Yours?" he requested.

OPM: Gayuma

There was this gay group in grade school. They were called federacion by the other students. I do not know if it was self-styled or baptized on them. They were about 8 or 10 members. Actually, I am not sure if they consider themselves as one group. There could even be two groups or two factions within the larger federation.

Two out of three of the prominent among them became my classmates. One was tall and thin. The other was short and average. The third, whom I did not really remember well, was fat.

Trends 2012: Pusong Bato

I did say I like Original Pinoy Music. To some extent, OPM is P-pop or Pinoy-pop.

They say music is the language of the soul. If this must be true, music should be in the native tongue of the listener for it to delve into the deepest of the soul. One could enjoy music with foreign lyrics, yes. Did it became rooted in him?

Campus: Bahay ng Alumni

Exactly two years ago. It was another exhausting yet fulfilling Saturday morning. We jogged around the Acad Oval, listened to a tactics lecture, and did some platoon exercises. The rest of the morning we spent by cleaning the hall.

I could have stayed longer and bond with the other cadets but I was hurrying to get home. D, an architecture student whom I met before that semester started, invited me to a party later at night. I would get home, rest, and prepare for the party.

Trends 2012: Popularizing the DILF

Trends 2012 will make an extended series due to the busy schedule of December.

'Daddies' are generally 40+ year-old fathers (ie. have children) and bulky, tough, hairy, and huge. But that image is for a genre of gay porn.

The beast-DILF need to be domesticated if to be shown on popular media. And so the DILF was slimmed to fit into a longsleeves, gentleman-ed, trimmed, and [who says can't stay to be?] huge.

The best example of Pinoy-DILF I can think of is Richard Gomez and, for the Hollywood-DILF, it's Brad Pitt. If you think otherwise or just want to add please do comment.

The modern-DILF was so, as they call it, feminized that it might border on metrosexual sometimes. Yet popular media didn't stop at that. They continued to introduce DILFs even on children.
