Red Horse

The call was short. He was still working a part-time shift past 9. A similar job of sewing blouses. There was a need for him to send money back to the province and the weekly wage he got from mom would not be enough. He sounded unsure.

Mom was angry last time. He requested for advance pay but kept on arriving to work late and a few days absent. She mumbled something about living-in. Maybe the girlfriend was the worker mom talked to another day together with Rwi.

There was an opportunity to ask Rwi when he was carrying a sack of merchandise into the back of our house. He's slim and tall and probably younger by a few years. He said he drinks. The plan was falling into place. Dad would be out of town for the weekend.

He brought in another sack on his shoulders. He's okay with Red Horse but worries if mom would allow us. He agreed to doing it past 9 so that mom would be asleep. A few more glances through the windows at the cute suntanned boy while he gets another sack.

Spotify was playing on the smart tv while it was raining heavy. There was suddenly a lightning and it was expected to turn dark and silent before thunder strikes. That happened in the middle of showering which only took ten more minutes by hurrying. The sky outside turned from navy blue to dark blue.

They were lighting candles. Mom could have ordered them to finish up, clean, then go home early. It was Saturday anyways. It was quiet at the sewing area except for talking near the door. About four sewers were left. They were waiting for the rain to weaken. Rwi was still among them after using the screen of the phone for light.

The flashlight of the phone was turned on while going upstairs and made it like looking for something. They were still waiting. Rwi followed upstairs after asking loudly if the excess wood planks were kept there. He wants to continue with later. He then dictated his number and hurried down.

To be continued...
